Dr. Farhan Shivji
General Dentist
Dr. Farhan Shivji completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of British Columbia, and has since become the proud owner and principal dentist of Pocosmiles, conveniently located in Shaughnessy Square.
Dr. Shivji creates a welcoming and safe clinical environment that prioritizes patient comfort. Patients consistently appreciate his precise anaesthetic technique, and his charismatic and caring chair-side manor. Dr. Shivji advocates for his patients, and enjoys educating patients regarding their oral health care, with consideration of each patient’s specific concerns- both restorative and cosmetic. As well as growing his practice, Dr. Shivji has a strong interest in population and public health. He has traveled to San Quintin, Mexico on a dental mission to provide dental care to communities in need.
In his spare time Dr. Shivji enjoys spending time hiking and skiing around beautiful BC, keeping up-to-date with his passion for cars, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Dorothy Tang
General Dentist
Dr. Tang prioritizes establishing trust with her patients, ensuring they feel comfortable, cared for, and well-informed during their dental appointments. She takes pleasure in connecting with her patients to understand their concerns and develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to their current needs and future aspirations. Her warm and welcoming demeanor helps children and anxious patients feel relaxed. Dr. Tang offers restorative dentistry (including Bioclear™ black triangle closure, cosmetic composite bonding, crowns, veneers), orthodontic treatment (Invisalign®), and endodontic treatment (root canal therapy). She advocates for minimally invasive dentistry and prefers conservative dental care options whenever feasible.
During her free time, Dr. Tang enjoys visiting new restaurants and exploring BC parks with her husband and two young daughters.
Dr. Niloufar Koohestanian
General Dentist
Continuing her quest for knowledge, she embarked on a research position in the biomedical engineering department at Harvard Medical School in 2015, broadening her knowledge. Driven by a commitment to providing the best possible care, she honed her skills in prosthodontics and restorative dentistry through the Advanced Implantology Preceptorship program at UCLA School of Dentistry in 2016. While studying in the USA, she took numerous advanced courses related to dentistry, refining her skills with top world-renowned experts.
Currently, Dr. Koohestanian shares her wealth of knowledge and experience as a part-time faculty member and clinical instructor at UBC School of Dentistry. With a passion for dentistry that spans over a decade, Dr. Koohestanian believes that the foundation of excellent dental care begins with trust. She takes the time to understand each patient’s unique needs, concerns, and goals, ensuring a personalized and comfortable experience. Dr. Koohestanian’s warm and friendly demeanor can put even the most anxious patients at ease, making every visit a positive one.
Dr. Koohestanian offers a wide range of dental procedures, including prosthodontics, restorative and esthetic dentistry, periodontal treatments, root canal therapy, and oral surgeries.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Koohestanian nurtures a profound interest in hyper-realistic drawing of dental and body anatomy. Recognized with numerous awards for her artistic talents, her passion for the arts enriches her practice as a dentist, allowing her to visualize and communicate complex dental concepts with clarity and precision.
Outside the office, Dr. Koohestanian enjoys volunteering in community dental clinics, participating in dental outreach programs, hiking, traveling, swimming, and playing the violin.
In 2023, Dr. Koohestanian achieved yet another milestone, earning her second DMD degree from McGill University, where she graduated among the top five of her class and garnered multiple awards for clinical excellence and professional dedication. She is a proud member of several esteemed dental associations. Her commitment to continuing education allows her to stay up-to-date and provide innovative solutions that enhance patient outcomes.
